For conspiracy blogger Uroboros, the files he acquired by hacking Mason International’s mainframe proved to be a gift that kept on giving. And far be it from Uroboros to keep those sordid details about everyone’s least-favorite pharmaceutical company to himself. In his latest “Flashlight” vlog, Uroboros posted internal Mason International surveillance footage which seems to suggest there is some dissension in the ranks between Mason’s head of Security Damian Durand and the rest of Mason’s security team.

Making a living wage in Los Angeles is no easy task, and working as a superhero full-time, Laurel has no income to speak of. So when Emmett found himself in between jobs, something had to give. An ex-Marine by trade, Emmett makes most of his money doing corporate security work. So when he found himself poised to get a full-time security gig at a prosperous local company, it was not lost on him or Laurel just how much they had riding on this job interview.

Digest 7/30 – 8/2

In case you missed any of this week’s new episodes, here’s all four in handy digest form.  Great for catching up and retweeting en masse!

Episode 3: “Between the Lines”

Not long after moving in with Laurel, Emmett’s fears for his superhero girlfriend’s safety began to multiply exponentially. It also made maintaining his secret identity that much more difficult.

And Emmett wasn’t the only one coming to terms with the implications of his new living arrangement. Local celebrity Laurel has been forced to make a few adjustments of her own: namely, trying to reconcile the fact that every aspect of her life (love-life included) is becoming of increasing importance to the paparazzi and the tabloids.

And the mysterious Augur paid Laurel an unsolicted late-night visit. The self-proclaimed prophet played a pivotal role in the origins of the both the Orphan and Fury of Solace. And it would seem his part in this story is not yet finished.

Episode 3.1: “Crisis Management”

In the wake of the Mason Tower bombing, “Crisis” with Starla Carter, L.A.’s number-one source for news and views on the superhero phenomena, dedicated an entire segment to the tragedy. Guests included Max Mason himself, Psychologist Temperance Jones (author of the best-selling book “The Superhero Complex”) and Los Angeles Police Commissioner Harlan Stone (vocal proponent of incorporating superhumans into the LAPD ranks).

Episode 3.2: “Out of the Blue”

Determined to put her growing fame to good use, Laurel announced on her blog that she was starting a vlog to talk about issues that affect her and the people of Los Angeles.

Laurel’s love-hate relationship with the LAPD goes back a long way. On the one hand, Laurel has at least one close, personal friend in the LAPD hierarchy, Lt. Katherine Czerny. On the other, both Laurel and Kat know all too well just how flexible the loyalties of the LAPD’s top brass can be: Kat and Laurel were instrumental in uncovering a conspiracy of corruption involving police-department payoffs from the Medina Drug Cartel, reaching all the way up to members of the L.A. City Council.

Episode 3.3: “Opposition Research”

While Fury of Solace has been waging war against Mason International, the man known only as Uroboros (proprietor of the conspiracy blog “The Flashlight”) has been engaged in a parallel quest to bring the pharmaceutical company’s alleged illegal activities to light. Uroboros came into the public eye after claiming responsibility for the now-infamous Mason International twitter hack, but he quickly outdid himself: mere weeks later, Uroboros successfully hacked into the Mason International mainframe, and proceeded to air the company’s dirty laundry on his conspiracy site.

Stay tuned for four new videos next week!

For years, the NYPD has cultivated unofficial partnerships with local New York superheroes.  Many other major U.S. cities have followed suit, but Los Angeles has been decidedly slow to adopt pro-superhero policies.  Which is why it came as a shock to everyone when Los Angeles Police Commissioner Harlan Stone introduced a proposal which promises to change the game completely: Stone wants the LAPD to officially hire and train superhuman police officers.  It is, however, an understandably controversial measure, and will likely be caught up in red tape for some time.  Here are some responses to Stone’s announcement:

Fade Away

A local L.A. superhero called Fade was recently found murdered.  Evidence strongly points to the Medina Drug Cartel.  Not long ago, the Orphan and LAPD Lt. Katherine Czerny (profiled here in Person of Interest magazine) discovered that almost two dozen LAPD officers, up to and including L.A. City Councilman Matthew Stannis, had been taking bribes from the Medina Cartel.  Since the scandal broke, the cartel’s influence in the city of angels has been greatly diminished, and they have been taking it out on the superhero community.  Corrupt cops can be bought, but most superheroes cannot.

About a week prior to his death, Fade had publicly announced that he intended to devote his full attention to ridding Los Angeles of the last vestiges of the Medina Cartel.  And this proclamation apparently put him at the top of the cartel’s hit list.

This is how L.A. mourned Fade’s passing:

Sara Ward Redux

After his near-death experience during the attack on Mason Tower, Max Mason allegedly set up a secret superhero recruitment drive during San Diego Comic-Con, to recruit a superpowered bodyguard to keep him safe from Fury of Solace’s continued assaults.  Fury of Solace learned that Max Mason had an important dinner date with the frontrunner for the superhero bodyguard position, a woman named Sara Ward, and proceeded to crash the party.  Ward fled the scene, reportedly taking flight under her own power, and has not been seen since.

After a failed attempt to infiltrate Mason International’s Comic-Con superhero recruitment drive, the conspiracy blogger Uroboros went back to Comic-Con the following year, intent on finding a lead on Sara Ward’s current whereabouts.  This is what happened next:
