On Monday, July 6th, Fury of Solace kidnapped Max Mason, President and CEO of Mason International.  Solace posted a password protected video online warning innocent bystanders to steer clear of Mason Tower, Mason International’s Los Angeles Corporate Headquarters.  Thanks to the help of a handful of civic-minded members of the twitter community, the Orphan decoded Solace’s password and set out for Mason Tower on a mission to save Max Mason’s life.  This is what happened when she got there.

For some time, the supervillain known as Fury of Solace has waged war against pharmaceutical giant Mason International. Solace made his case against Mason International in this blog post, in which he levied a bevy of charges against the company’s President and CEO, Max Mason.

On Monday, July 6th, Solace kidnapped Max Mason, and posted a video online detailing his plans, hidden behind a password.

Click the image below for a full account of the event on twitter (most recent update first).

The prophet called Augur tweeted clues that led the Orphan and like-minded twitter users to a secret twitter account called Fate_Fulfilled:

Where he posted a link to a photo of a mysterious belt buckle, which proved vital in unraveling Fury of Solace’s password, “celer et audax”.

Solace, the video revealed, had detained Max Mason at Mason Tower, Mason International’s Los Angeles Corporate Headquarters.  The Orphan made haste for the downtown high rise, intent on saving Max Mason before it was too late. This is what happened next.

New Content this July

At long last, new episodes of “Fury of Solace” are almost upon us! Since this series is the very definition of multimedia, and there isn’t exactly a precedent for what you’re about to see, we thought it might be best to give you all a primer. For starters, not every episode is going to be live-action, some will be 8-page online comics. In addition to the episodic videos and comics, we’ll periodically be releasing short, live-action minisodes, which strictly speaking are supplementary, just another way to immerse yourself in the “Fury of Solace” world. You can interact with all of the characters on their twitter accounts, and some of their tweets will have a direct bearing on the ongoing narrative. You can find all of the twitter accounts on the characters page (which is newly updated, by the way), but the two most important ones are Fury of Solace (twitter.com/furyofsolace) and the Orphan (twitter.com/the_orphan). Fury of Solace and the Orphan also both have character blogs, which will give you a bit more insight into their characters.

Now that that’s out of the way, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the release schedule for new content! Episode 1.5, the first minisode, will go live here on furyofsolace.com on Monday, July 6th. A week later on Monday, July 13th, we’ll debut Episode 2, the first comic. “Fury of Solace” creator Emmett Furey and singer/songwriter Natalie Guastavino are hard at work writing the next song, to be featured in Episode 3 (which doesn’t have a solid release date yet, more on that soon). And that is just the tip of the iceberg!

Also, some of you may have noticed the PayPal donate button in the sidebar. Felicia Day funded the entire first season of her web series “The Guild” with just such a button, and I’m hoping to do the same for “Fury of Solace.” Every little bit helps, and every penny will go back into the show. As a bonus, for a limited time, we’ll send an mp3 of “Lot in Life,” the song featured in Episode 1, to anyone who donates a dollar or more to the show! Additionally, “Fury of Solace” t-shirts are now available for purchase at our cafepress store.

“Fury of Solace” Season 1 features an ensemble cast of five characters: Fury of Solace and the Orphan are joined by the ambiguously evil CEO Max Mason, his bodyguard, the mysterious Mason Vixen, and LAPD Lieutenant Kat Czerny. Todd Livingston portrays Max Mason, who will be introduced next month in Episode 1.5, and Mason Vixen (Sara Jo Elice) and Kat Czerny (“LonelyGirl15’s” Katherine Pawlak) will be introduced in subsequent episodes.

We’re also currently looking for comic book artists to illustrate upcoming comics, any interested artists should drop us a line at furyofsolace@gmail.com. Speaking of Comics, Emmett Furey will be attending Comic-Con next month. We won’t have a booth this year, but any fans who are going shouldn’t hesitate to say hi if you see him wandering the con floor.

Thank you all for your support so far.  The worst is yet to come…

Kat Czerny, LAPD

Just another sneak peak at things to come:  The LAPD’s own Kat Czerny rounds out our ensemble cast, played by LonelyGirl15’s Katherine Pawlak.  Kat is Commisioner Gordon to the Orphan’s Batman, but like most of the relationships in “Fury of Solace,” her interaction with our heroes proves to be, in a word, complicated. This watercolor piece was done by artist Evaun Wallington.
